Snowy Regional Waste Study PDF Print E-mail

PHA undertook a study for Snowy River and Cooma-Monaro Shire Councils, together with Kosciuszko National Park, that investigated the separate collection of organic and non-organic wastes from these 3 areas.

Organic wastes were to be processed in a composting unit to be constructed within Snowy River Shire with the non-organic wastes to be landfilled at Cooma.

This landfill at Sawpit Creek will close under our proposal

Our investigation considered collection systems, transfer/transportation, organics processing, recyclables collection and processing, and investigated triple-bottom-line outcomes.  Financial projections were extended over forty years.

Based on our conclusions that the project is viable additional work is presently taking place to establish the project.
