This project invovled visiting fifteen councils in southern and central western New South Wales and was focused into two areas of analysis, namely: - Life cycle and asset renewal funding analysis based on the behaviour of a number of strategic rural roads
- Analysis of the relationships between roughness and road condition measures to enable councils to access the ARRB-TR life cycle analysis.
The work included data capture, including asset valuations, remaining life profiles and capital and maintenance expenditure assessment, and field evaluations of condition and roughness. From these, graphical representations were prepared of the council’s future funding liabilities to maintain these road and bridge assets. These graphs have been posted at http://www.algin.net/transinfo The graphs for a number of Councils visited as part of the Australian Local Government Information Network (ALGIN) project were previously posted on this site (go to the "Funding Liability of Councils" page). Other councils will eventually have the opportunity to post their asset data there, and see for themselves the impact that creating new assets has on their future funding liability. If you want more information about this project, or are interested to supply the data for your council, then please contact us.
